MCAT Question A Day - 1/5/14 - Answer!
Devices A and B are connected in parallel to a voltage source. If the resistance of A is four times as great as the resistance of B, then the current through A must be
A. twice as great as that in B.
B. half as great as that in B.
C. four times as great as that in B.
D. one fourth as great as that in B.
The correct answer is (D). Ohm’s law. For constant V, I and R are inversely proportional and linear. If R increases by four times, then I must be divided by four.
