MCAT Question A Day - 4/13/14 - Answer!
Four resistors are connected as shown.
What is the current through the 40-Ohm resistor?
A. 1.2 A
B. 2.0 A
C. 3.0 A
D. 4.0 A
The correct answer is (B). This is a parallel circuit diagram. The voltage drop is the same across both branches, but the current is divided between them. The resistors on each branch are connected in series. The equivalent resistance in the right-hand branch is 60 Ohms.
